suzy's hat // helpful video for casting on!

look at this beautiful hat that Suzy knit!

I went to Windsor Forest High School this morning and got Ms.Sperry's intro to art class started with hat knitting! They will be making hats for the Y, and were incredibly excited about learning to knit!
we got about a third of the class going with casting on.... always trickier than you think!

Here is a good video for learning to cast on : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APSqlPSz1Eo

HATS are coming in!!!

My friend Paige told her grandmother in Pennsylvania about our hat project. It turns out that this grandma of wonder does a fair amount of thrifting and estate-sale-ing.... she found us a beautiful lot of 16 hand knit hats! They arrived yesterday and are a wonderful contribution!

30 brand new sets of 16" circular knitting needles also arrived yesterday, a gift from our  friends at Coats& Clark! So if you'd like to get knitting, we can hook you up, 100%.

I'm hoping to have enough hats for all of our kids in the YMCA daycare-- about 130. 16 down, 114 to go.... :)
